Tiny Talk Tuesday Or There Really is A Tiny Talk Moment In This Long Post

Mary at Not Before 7, hosts Tiny Talk Tuesday every week. It's fun to see what the little ones are saying, so go and check it out!

It was kind of quite at my house this week, but I was recently reminiscing with a friend about our kids and we talked about this fond little memory so I thought I'd share it with you.

My friend and I had taken our kids away during Spring Break to a water park resort. On our last day there, we had to check out of our room by 11, but we weren't quite done hanging out and swimming. So after we had had our fun for the day and were ready to head for home, we went to get ourselves and the kids changed in the locker room. It was crowded, the floor was wet and hairy like only a locker room floor can be, and it was pretty gross. But my friend and I managed to find a couple of private corners and did our best behind-the-towel changing. We thought we were being very discreet. Until my 3 year old, Gracie, points to my friends chest, and says:

"My Mom has those and she puts them in a boop thing too"

I really don't think that 'boop thing' is the visual that Victoria's Secret wants you taking away from their fine publication of undergarments.

Tiny Talk Tuesday

Thank you Mary for hosting Tiny Talk Tuesday!

A little angel seems to have moved into my house this week. He came complete with a halo and his own organ music.

Seriously, my son Taco age 5, is on this goody-two-shoes kick. It seems lately every time I am sounding a bit aggravated with one of his sisters he chimes in with an angelic comment.

Me: "Fiona, have you gotten your hair brushed yet??? The bus is coming in 5 minutes."

Taco, from a totally different room, "I BRUSHED MY HAIR MOM."

-------------------------------------------

Me: "Gracie, finish your sandwich...this is all you are getting for lunch."

Taco "I finished my sandwich, could I please have some more?"

-------------------------------------------

The girls were whining about getting to bed early because it was a school night, finally I just stopped reasoning with them and said "It is a school night, GO and GET in your beds!"

Taco, heard calling down the stairs, "I'm in my bed Mom, I have school tomorrow you know."

And I swear I could hear the organ music playing somewhere.

Tiny Talk Tuesday

I am really enjoying the Tiny Talk Tuesday posts at Not Before 7.
They are a lot of fun to read!

Last week, we were driving to visit a children's museum in a town that is about 30 minutes away from us. This is not a big city, with towering skyscrapers or any public transportation besides the bus to speak of, and the population is around 200,000. This town is more of a place where all the shopping and dining is at! A town you would drive to visit when you needed maybe something a little more than your local Wal-Mart or Target had to offer. Keep in mind, even though this town is not a big city by any means, the tallest building is a whopping 5 stories tall. And they not only have a Dairy Queen, but 3 (yes 3!) DQ Chill and Grill restaurants. A place deserving of a post all to its own.

So anyway....we are driving to the museum and stopped at a red light and my 8 year old daughter says "Mom, are we in The City?" And she had such amazement and wonder in her voice I did not have the heart to say what I was really thinking..."Honey...clearly we need to get you out more!"

My 8 year old, Choppy, also had this meaningful insight for me recently. We were looking at a picture of her christening, she was 10 days old, her older sister was 16 months and my husband and I each had 1 of them in our arms. Now, granted, in this picture I was 8 years younger than I am right now. And really rockin' a green plaid dress with lace trim in all my 10 days post partum glory.

But still...that is really NOT THAT LONG AGO!

So I thought it a bit rude when she looked at the picture and "WOW! Mom, you looked SOOOOOO YOUNG!"

Tiny Talk Tuesday

The things these kids say! I struggled this week to come up with something I thought was humorous enough to share with you all. I remembered this little exchange we had a few months ago when "Our Teeth" was the theme of the week at preschool.

After getting Taco's jammys on one night, I said he should get his teeth brushed. He wasn't too keen on the idea and really started whining and complaining that he didn't want to brush his teeth that night. I asked nicely, several times, and finally just firmly said "BRUSH YOUR TEETH RIGHT NOW AND GET IN BED."

His response?

"Can't I just go eat an apple? It's nature's toothbrush!"

Ummm, I don't think that is exactly the point his teachers were trying to get across about oral hygiene.
