Me and My Gang

I am seeing the girls tonight, and I can't wait. Most every 2nd Friday of the month...I'm ready! We try to get together once a month to hang out, drink wine, and laugh untill it hurts. We talk about the kids and the husbands and work and Oprah and much more pressing matters like McSteamy vs. McDreamy, Britney, and where Brad and Angie's next baby will be from. They share my crushes on Jennifer Garner and Pottery Barn and they know what my house looks like when it is not company ready. They know I'd probably leave my husband if Tim McGraw asked me too. They know a bit about my baggage from my past, and I know a bit about theirs and we still love each other. I am a lucky girl.

Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't do
what they're supposed to do.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Careers end.

BUT - Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are
between you.
A girlfriend is never farther away than needing her.
When you have to walk that lonesome valley
and you have to walk it by yourself,
the women in your life will be on the valley's rim,
cheering you on,
praying for you,
pulling for you,
intervening on your behalf,
and waiting with open arms at the valley's end.
Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you,
or come in and carry you out.
When we began this adventure called womanhood,
we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead, nor did we know how much we would need each other.

Every day, we need each other still.

***And if anybody sees this picture that was at The Irish Cottage last spring...obviously you know by now from reading this that,

a) one of us was not having a bachelorette party, we are all married old maids, but wasn't that clever of us to make that up for the free drinks? :)

b) Thanks for making us part of your show Paul! I still feel really bad for fibbin' to ya! Your show was a lot of fun!***

You and your girl friends have the best time tonight. I'll be at a high school football game so no drinks for me, you can have one for me if you want....
