Maybe my little samurai has matured a bit more than I gave her credit for

I can't thank you all enough for the wonderful responses I received from Friday's post. Your words of encouragement and understanding have been so uplifting for me to read.

I often tend to overreact in situations like this one, that mama bear instinct is a strong one, but this time I think the calm voice of reason prevailed.

The Girl was at it again on Friday, this time swiping Fiona's paint set right off of her table during art class.

And my girl?

She walked right up to The Girl and asked for her paint set back.

And she got it. Simple as that.

She was feelin' pretty good when she got home that afternoon.

And so was I.

I think everything worked out okay, this time.

If only it was always going to be this simple.

I'm so glad!!! Go, Fiona! I hope this is the end of it.

You do wonder about that girl, though...like you said, who knows what goes on in her house, but obviously she's already getting a reputation at school. Not good.

Did Fiona just get her orange belt now? The pictures are great!

That's AWESOME!! You go, Fiona!!

Those are great pictures, too, btw. I've been thinking of enrolling my 5 year old in karate. When did your kids get started?

That's awesome!! Look at your little lady go! It's in a mother's nature to want to protect her children at all costs, but in letting them deal with some challenges on their own, they get to develop their own strength. There will certainly be more issues in the future, but knowing that she handled this one well will give her more confidence for the next time.

You did good. She did good. It's all good.
